Shelterbox fundraising is captained by Dick Anderson.
From the ShelterBox website: "Shelterbox is an international disaster relief charity that delivers emergency shelter, warmth and dignity to people affected by disaster worldwide... Each box supplies an extended family of up to 10 people with a tent and essential equipment to use while they are displaced or homeless."
Since learning about Shelterbox, when disasters strike, the Newport Rotary Club has chosen to channel its disaster-relief contributions to this organization. Shelterbox is completely detached from any political alliances or interests, just like Rotary. The synergy between Rotary and Shelterbox enables both organizations to ensure that relief efforts get directly to those in need faster and more effectively than through any other channel.
